Asbestos Inspection and Abatement
Cedar Valley Techworks
Project Background
Liesch performed asbestos and hazardous material surveys and subsequent oversight for the abatement and decommissioning of forty five structures in preparation for demolition and redevelopment of two buildings to become the Cedar Valley Techworks center in Waterloo, Iowa. The structures were originally used for industrial production of John Deere tractors and parts.
Scope of Work
Upon completion of the survey, Liesch conducted the project management and oversight of the abatement and decommissioning activities. The project included the abatement and decommissioning of four large several-story coal-fired boilers and associated equipment, two boiler stacks, and numerous turbines and generators. Liesch provided project oversight, air monitoring, and visual inspections and documentation during the asbestos abatement and decommissioning activities within the affected buildings. During the abatement activities, Liesch closely monitored and documented the packaging and manifesting of all regulated waste for disposal.
