blighted properties
Project Background
The Town of Geneva, Wisconsin acquired two properties for redevelopment. Historically, operating gas stations/general stores occupied the properties with various owners/operators. Both establishments ceased petroleum operations in the 1960s and were thereafter operated as stores or for storage.
Scope of Work
Liesch managed all phases of this redevelopment project of the two under-utilized, blighted properties and served as the liaison between property owners, the town board, town officials, state regulatory representatives, interested organizations and town residents. After the successful submission of a grant application for a State Brownfield Site Assessment Grant for the properties, Liesch completed both the Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment to meet Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) guidelines. Liesch thereafter completed remediation activities which allowed successful site closure by the WDNR for both properties. A WDNR Green Space grant application was awarded to convert these properties into a park. The site currently serves as the Charlotte Peterson Park.
