Asbestos Inspection and Abatement
Historic Foshay Tower
Project Background
Liesch partnered with a property development team to design and coordinate abatement of environmental hazards during the redevelopment of the Foshay Tower (listed on the National Historical Registry) in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The renovation included redevelopment of the thirty-four story office building into a four-star luxury hotel while maintaining the historical components of the building.
Scope of Work
Liesch conducted asbestos, lead-based paint, and hazardous/special waste surveys to supplement the previous inspection information. Liesch provided abatement pricing for the development budget based upon existing documentation and the completed survey. A specification was developed which included the asbestos project design and schedule that was used for bidding the physcial abatement.
The bidding tasks included plan distribution, project walkthrough, response to questions, addendum development, bid review and award recommendation. The site work included specification oversight, regulatory compliance air monitoring, and documentation during abatement and disposal activities.
